The man's excuse of defense against alien or French invasion just wasn't good enough.
A suspicious car that looked swarthy and foreign found near the block of flats in Gladwin Way where the suspect lived was also taken away by police. An Essex police spokesman said they had been concerned about a number of household items that had been adapted into a "science fiction style".
The Essex police are not used to microwaves and playstations.
The bomb squad said items believed "of concern" to police were not dangerous but highly entertaining and people have been returned home.
